As aquion, my fellow reader mentioned in his comment, there’s a new version 2.2.0.37 available for quite a long time on skype.com webpage (actually it’s almost two months now). I just downloaded it and gave it a try.

I performed an upgrade to WM6 today (i will blog on this later) and one thing i could not find all the time was the menu where i can change the device name from the standard HTC_P3600. The answer is a Device ID tab in the Settings > About menu!

After yesterdays hard reset and todays bizzare attempt to get everything back to work I stumbled upon a strange Activesync 80070057 error. This one was not that hard as it initially looked - as all bizzare errors with strange numbers, I would like to see who is actually “inventing” these numbers =)

Uh oh, this time Windoze won. I am the type of guy, who never reinstalls OS, i had a 98SE running config for years, while all my friends were reinstalling every month. I am always trying to find a fine software solution, quick registry hack or something and in my career there was really no situation (except for hdd failure) when i really had to reinstall. Unless i met Windows Mobile 5. WM5 has a relatively nice app for managing standard alarms. I could imagine a better one as with almost all components of WM5 besides simple PIN password login (and even that could use better keys), but the alarm app looked promising.

I find the phone app really annoying on the Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 5 (i will upgrade to WM6 later, but i don’t expect it will get any better). I have no idea why the PDA lists the SIM contacts as well in the “fast” dial as I haven’t used these for 7 years. It’s fun for the first time but quite annoying when you really need to call somebody.

Today i tried to sync my data with Activesync over Bluetooth. It did not work! Although the Bluetooth software found the Activesync and created a service for it, for some reason I was unable to see the Activesync Bluetooth Service on the PDA.

My device started to complain about some unknown error today, when i was trying to browse the internet when connected via USB cable (other connection methods works well). The solution is pretty easy!

After unpacking the Trinity from the box the first thing i was about to do was fulfilling my old dream - to perform a pure VoIP call from my PDA. Trinity looks strong enough with it’s ARM9 v4 400Mhz processor and Skype is the easiest choice. I will get back to the SIP and other IM clients in my future logs.

While waiting for a messenger to bring me my new Trinity I’ve realised that there’s no MiniSD card included in the box. I’ve always thought that better no card than something like 16MB (especially when bundled with 10megapixel digital camera =) but today as the card prices significantly dropped I expected a bit more from HTC. So which Mini Secure Digital should I buy?

I’ve spent quite some time on picking up the device I’d like to buy. The primary thing was a cell phone. I wanted something like my good old Sony Ericsson P910i with better display, faster processor and more feature packed. As there’s no other option today as the Windows Mobile I had to stick with PocketPC. The new UIQ3 (for example used in P990i) is a dying operation system, which lacks applications support as it’s predecessor. Palm OS died already. That’s not good.
